        Good morning,

The forum's own Bishop is certainly a diplomatic chap! My 'previous life' as an aviator would hardly add to anyone's abilities here but, let's see now, my 'area of expertise'…errr airbrushing hulls?blush. I think we leave that for now and I'll put the coffee onsmiley

        Cheers, George

For the pond chaps…I have put “Ray gun” fins on the Swordfish and it looks much better. Transforms the look of it and makes it the James Bond craft that bystanders call it.

in addition I remembered to take the wattmeter. Peters airboat appeared to use almost the same amps whether static or on the pond, whereas his big cabin cruiser gave a 35A reading at the jetty side (and I was having trouble holding it) but on 27A as a peak measurement when on the water, a big difference we were not expecting.

the twin engined (385 can, s35 plastic two blade props on 9.6v) medium sized lander gave 5A static and I didn’t bother with a water measurement at that value.

If we’re going down the James Bond route with our boats dose that mean Ashley is Q?

More like Johnny English actually 😂

Hi chaps, My new project will finally break cover this weekend, weather willing, it’s another tongue in cheek boat based around Wallace and Gromit —- a Slipper launch!

Carved from a piece of foam with a fast ish motor in it so it should get on the plane, we will see! Lots of flashing LED’s on the dashboard as an extra feature (something for the kiddies to look at) and of course cheese, crackers and a thermos of tea!

Thanks, we seem to like our oddball boats, says a lot really!

Once carved I gave it a PVA wash to control the grit that comes with sanding down, then a thin covering of fibreglass and car body filler and a lot of wet and dry work. Then sprayed with primer filler and more rubbing down, masked up and painted to the end result. Just need to do a Matt varnish to keep the paint fresh.

will eventually be sporting a pair of Brooklands fishtail silencers down the sides to give it that Morgan three wheeler look.

On the plane….a challenge if ever I heard one. Like the step underneath, will be required to get it going very very very fast.

Will have to bring the swordfish…..

The Xmas issue of MB could maybe include a build feature. "Slippers for Christmas".

The Gromit figure is brilliant! You are obviously keeping the high performance keel and propulsion system well covered to prevent any industrial espionage taking place. You have to get us a shot of this 'on the plane' otherwise there may be those amongst us who doubt its capabilities!

Should it work perfectly? They always seem to have something go wrong or fall off.
