The V&A is fully of surprise's !! there has been an excellent exhibition on plywood and is applications which was fascinating, from a Mosquito fuselage to a Mirror dinghy. Thought I was strictly a Science Museum person till I saw that

I visited this exhibition yesterday and it is fabulous! There was far more to see than I expected and I took lots of photos, see a selection here:

Some of the highlights included a huge cinematic screen depicting the Normandie and QE2 alternately crossing in front of you as seen from a ship you are standing on, quite an amazing illusion.

Check out the painting of the Great Eastern's saloon while the ship was adrift in the Atlantic having lost her rudder. In addition to the passengers being flung about all over the place, a dairy cow has fallen through the ceiling (top right).

A streamlined liner design from the 1930s

Futuristic liner design from the 1930s

And poignantly, a fragment of carved woodwork from Titanic's 1st class lounge that floated up after the ship broke in half and was recovered by rescue ships.

That looks rather good. Thanks for sharing Colin, I might try and escape and pop along.
