        In my photos, I’ve posted pictures of two of my boats.  These boats were built by a man in the USA named Jesse Thompson. 

        The first one is the Orca, the boat used in the movie “Jaws.”  The Orca is made of wood (planked).  We then put fiberglass resin and cloth over the hull.  I installed the R/C equipment and have been running it almost every week for a year now.  The pulpit on the Orca is a bit messed up because I once dropped this boat!  The hull is about 35 inches long (40 inches if you measure from the end of the pulpit).  I’ve installed a MFA Como 500, geared down 2.5:1, on 12 volts spinning a 45mm 4-blade brass prop.  Not the best setup, but it works.

         
        The next boat was just built this month.  It is a model of a real Novi lobster boat which was originally built in Nova Scotia in 1986 – “The Illusion,” which worked out of Gloucester, Massachusetts, USA.   This model is a fiberglass hull.  It’s about 35 inches long and the cabin is a combination of hardwood and softwood.  I’m going to fit in a MFA Como 800 with a 55mm 4 blade brass prop (I hope that will work…).
         
        The builder, Jesse Thompson, is very keen on building the Orca — he’s built something like 30 models of that very boat.  The one I have is not his best version of the Orca he’s done, but it is quite good.  His work on the Illusion was the first time he built a non-Orca boat, and I must say he’s done an excellent job.
         
        So, check out “My Photos” when you get a chance!  Each album contains photos of the real boats, followed by construction photos, and, in the case of the Orca, followed by action photos.
