Your basic choice has to be between refillable tanks or disposable tanks. There are advantages of both but nowadays I think the advantages of disposable tanks outweighs the refillables. Apart from no concerns about pressure testing the ability to raise steam with one tank then change over before putting it on the water is a great way of reducing the gas cooling effect. You then have to decide on which size tank to use but with a Krick kit it will almost certainly have to be a 100 g tank. The biggest disadvantage is that they are usually quite expensive, unless you can buy in bulk. The whole process of refilling a tank however can be something of a challenge and having to remove it from the boat is all part of a pain in the rear. I like to keep whatever I have to do at the pondside as simple and easy as possible.
Keep an eye on ebay, there are bargains to be had, however be very careful when buying plant and check before you commit. If you don't you could be leaving yourself open to buying a very expensive white elephant. You would be better off saving up for a new plant if at all possible with some support from a manufacturer.
