I was well impressed by Ashley’s article about his project named "Shorty" and then, to cap it all modelflying came up with the model Ashley referred to, Either Flying or taxying on the water, this is some impressive mochine. But the Sunderland itself was a brute, more deserving of the title "Flying Fortress" than the boeingof that nameit was a very long range maritime patrol aircraftcapable of carrying depth chargesand all sorts of goodies to give submariners head aches, then after the war, they put civilian clothes on and re-created the role of the super luxury flying boats working the middle and far east. We had a slpway for Sunderlands at RAF mountbatten here in Plymouth. I bet it was fabulous watching those babies gofrom PLymouth Hoe which has a very good view of Mountbatten.
