My Grandad buit this in the mi 80's I guess and it has turned up in a loft. I would like to have a go at restoring it but does anybody know what it is, the make etc.

If I could find out what it should look like I might stand a chance of getting it in the water some day!

It just might be a Modav 'Sea Vixen'. I had nothing to do with its design and I'm pretty sure that production stopped when the Fairey Huntsman kits came out. Googling it only finds a plan for one sold a while back on E-Bay, and there's no picture. You might be able to trace the buyer via the seller……..
There's not much left to do from the looks of the picture; just the front windscreen (which looks like a vee-shape in two halves) and the cabin roof (ply bent to the curve of the main bulkhead).
I'd suggest mocking these up from card and seeing what shapes you can obtain and what you prefer.
          Good luck!

It's a crummy, dark old photo but I'd bet my pocket-money on it. How depressing I should remember this from 1972, though…………. sad

Thanks, Paul. Amazing the number of people who put big heavy lead-acid batteries into planing boats like this. It's the model boat equivalent of running the 100 metres in diving boots.

                      No problem Dave

But to be charitable maybe that battery is the only one they had and it might have shared between many models.

                        Hi Paul

the boat on e-bay you showed is Wave Rider. I have one I made mid 60's, Use it now as a motor test bed, presently fitted with a small cheap brushless motor. 9.6v nicads, draws just over 1A planes quit well.

Think the kit was by NorStar

                        Cheers Tom
