I have just read, with interest, the June 2012 review of the Sea Commander Kit. How much sailing time could you expect from this boat? I know that this is a "length of a piece of string "query, but just using this review motor/ battery combination it is a bit more specific.

      Cheers, Terry.

          Hello Terry

I usually get just over one hours sailing with my commander.

Its motor is a Johnson 600 coupled with a 12v 4ah sealed lead acid battery, the battery is a little on the large side but makes excellent ballast.

          I hope this helps

          Paul

            Hi Paul.

Thanks for the info. With this battery weight does the boat plane? I don't like to see boats of this type that go ridiculously fast, putting the "crew" through G forces that would probably kill them!! But it is nice to see the hull up and out of the water a little.

            Cheers, Terry.

              Hi Terry

Placing the battery in the rear compartment actually gives the hull an aid to getting up on the plane.

How about some photos of your boat?

              Paul

                Hi Paul,

not actually built one yet, just gathering info before I decide what to build this winter, at the moment it is a toss up between the Sea Commander and the Aeronaut Princess. Not had any feedback at all regarding the Princess, but I can buy that kit locally, the Sea Commander would have to be shipped, I live in Vienna.

                Cheers, Terry.

                  Hello Terry

I can recommend the Sea Commander not only as an enjoyable build but also as a very strong model that can withstand quite a lot of mistreatment.

Vienna is a lovely city, home to the Burgtheater and of course a wonderful history of music and culture.

                  Paul
