I have been with the current ( now ex) team for over 25 years in all. The building where I finished up in was the one I started in all those years ago. The first and second floor (I wont give you the technical department names) have a reunion drink up at xmas, and several throughout the year, so I have no doubt that we will keep in touch, some of these chaps I have known for 39 years! and I shall certainly be joining the team for a few Friday lunchtime drinks now and then.
It is difficult . from a non hobbyists point of view to know exactly what to get a model maker, and to be honest the only prezzy you really want is one you choose yourself. I think they chose well considering, and certainly splashed the cash which is very thoughtful (I had other stuff as well). There was an issue in that I only had 1 1/2 weeks notice that my request had been accepted, and was off on leave for the past week as well (to use it up) otherwise I might have dropped hints, like Paul I had absolutely no idea they would get me such a thing.
The victory kit may have been influenced by the small Victory Airfix kit I had on my desk for a long time. It was part of a box of made-up Airfix ships we bought at a toy fair (Berengar spotted them hiding under a table) some years ago. It was unpainted and I splashed some paint on it, black/buff lines and all. Everyone was well impressed. Oddly enough this is a ghastly model, the gunports have different vertical spacing's either side, and several sticky-out bits do not line up viz when looking from the front or rear
Sail it??? Hmmmm….let me think on that.
Tenner….hhmmmm…let me think on that as well…
Ashley (lump sum probably 3 months away such is the speed of my departure)
