Have a Spectrum DX4e transmitter. Need a compatible reciever. Only need 2 channels (Rudder & Throttle). Suggestions?

I understand that there is a brand called Orange, available from Hobbyking, which is compatible with Spektrum. I doubt if you'll get a 2-channel but the 4 channel ones are very cheap. Be careful with these, because there are several different protocols which Spektrum have used for transmitting 2G4 signals and not every receiver is compatible with every transmitter. Had some bad experience with Orange receivers and strongly advise that you stick with Spektrum AR6000 / BR 6000 equipment, another tip is to buy new from a reputable supplier [don't go cheap with ebay]

According to the Spektrum data sheet the DX4E is NOT compatible with AR6000 or BR6000 receivers so I suggest you do not follow Paul's advice above. I think you should be OK with a DSMX compatible receiver. It may be OK with a DSM2 receiver but I would not bet on that. I have only ever used Spektrum receivers with Spektrum transmitters so I have no experience of Orange or other alternatives.

Looks like a Spectrum AR400 will work. Have a speed controller (Duratrax Intellispeed). Hope it works with Spectrum. Comments?

It just goes to show that when you ask for help don't take the answer from the first idiot that comes along. Now back to my day job advising Donald Trump on how to deal with North Korea.

I think an AR400 should be OK. Spektrum did produce a chart which had a compatibility cross reference between all their receivers and transmitters but unfortunately it does not have a DX4E in the list, I guess because it is relatively new. However the AR400 is DSMX compatible so it should be OK.

I've counted – and you were the second. That said, I never buy anything other than the same manufacturer's kit. The saving is often less than the cost of a spray paint can or a bottle of glue. I use Hitec exclusively. Works for me.

2 channel receivers have all but vanished, but certainly in my price range, a multi channel one costs about the same as a 2 channel one did back in 27MHz days. Time has moved on, and industrial costings dictate that the bulk market wants a lot of channels, so that becomes the standard. A lower channel count will not benefit from bulk costings because the market will be so much smaller.

Just plug stuff in the channels needed.
