I have following the article in the May Model Boats on the K G V plastic magic bought one of the above servos for some trials. It came this morning relatively fast from China. I notice that the servo has 5 leads connected to it. 2 black, 2 Orange, 1 white. I assume that the black and the Orange are negative and positive and the white is the signal, but to connect it to a Rx do I connect both black and both Orange together or pick one black and one Orange to use.

        Thanks

        Tim

Does it have plugs fitted? If not, what with Hiskey being helicopter oriented, it might be intended for use with something other than the equipment that we are used to. It could just be a motor/gearbox/sensor unit intended to connect to a control board. This would need 2 wires for the motor, three for the sensor, the clever bit being done on the control board. But thats just guessing without more information, like a link to the original source.

            Thanks Malcolm

Yes it has a small plug that the 5 wires are fitted into. It came via Amazon, just search for Hisky Linear Servo. Perhaps I have picked the wrong version to buy. May be better to put it on EBAY and get some money back.

            Thanks

Did the article that prompted the purchase say how it was used and what it was plugged into? A google search turned up a bunch of Amazon links, none with any useful information except that "this item is not available", so perhaps you have the last one.

The article is in the latest Model Boats mag.

The servo used there seemed to come with 3 leads as normal, although they needed attaching to normal servo wire. Perhaps I have managed to buy a slightly different version.

Looking again at Amazon, I see that there is an HCP 100 V922 which the picture shows 3 wires and the one I have the HFB 100 V944 with 5 wires.

Looking at the picture of the V922 version, it looks like a mini connector intended for mini radios. If it runs happily on 5 volts, there is no reason why a change of plug should not do the job, but it might be that the electronics intended for that helicopter is aimed at a 1S LiPo battery at 3.7 volts.

On the other hand, the helicopter might run on multiple cells in series and the servos and radio be supplied by a UBEC at 5 volts.

Not a very good answer, but someone on a helicopter forum might have an accurate and useful answer.

Looking at more pictures on the Net, the version with 3 wires (922) has another electronic board underneath ; the version I bought (944) does not have the board. I guess this may be some sort of control board? I should have studied more before ordering, I just assumed that a servo would work as normal.

Oh Well, it seems like Trial and ERROR. Another one to put down to experience or lack of it?
