      Hi! Guys/Girls I am New to the site

      Please can someone help me I will be Building Mountfleets model Tug

      Empire Ivy My Question
      As to running gear, would I need a 2/4 channel radio for operating the
      boat giving forward, reverse, left and right. If you have one with more
      channels this would also operate the lights while on the water.
      The shaft and brass prop are included with the kit. You would need a
      motor, motor mount and coupling can anyone recommend something around an
      800 size, a speed controller, servo and a battery and also advise me of a Lighting system for the model. John

            Hi john

            i have built the empire ivy myself i fitted a power 1000 motor from robbe this motor has a very hight torque and is very low drain on the battery i also fitted a 12volt lead acid battery this will almost get the ballast right this set up gave me long running time, esc from electronize very reliable and solid, 2.4 gig radio gear is the way to go, as for the lighting there you have a problem because a boat of that era had oil lamps you would need led's that flicker and i could not find any so i did not fit any plus also you would have a fine time trying to wire them all up. i hope this helps best of luck mike.

              This will simulate flickering lamps. You can use standard bulbs (grain of wheat etc) or LEDs – it works with either.
