I want to buy a spare receiver for my Planet T5 Radio control system, do I need to have the same brand of receiver to match the original or can I use another brand. ?

HI Andy

The info i have been given is to buy the real thing, a lot of manufacturers say they are compatible but you get problems,

Also don't go with FHSS or any of the other configurations they are not generic as i have found to my cost.

Howes do Planet at reasonable price or look on Ebay they come up for sale often.

The T5 receivers are among the cheapest on sale. i am not sure why you would want to buy any other make unless they were ridiculously cheap, but even then, as stated, there can be problems. The technology is fickle compared to a straightforward 27M set.

I agree with Ashley. Do you know the difference between DSM2, DSMX, FASST and DSSS? Do you know which the T5 uses? Blowed if I do, but if you buy the wrong one then you've not saved the tenner you thought you would – you've wasted the money which you have spent. In my experience retailers aren't predisposed to refund a customer who didn't know what he was buying; if that retailer is in the ROC (even with an alleged UK warehouse…) then wave your dosh goodbye.

Besides my modest range requirement (easily met by a T5), the cheap receivers were the deciding factor in getting a Planet set.

Hi Andy I have 3 different radios a Radio Link a Tamco and a Planet 5 and none of the receivers will react to the Planet 5 so advise ,stick to your preferred transmitter

For what its worth I will be donating the radio link receivers and the Tamco and receiver to a worthy cause

One mistake I did not buy a Planet 5 firstMichael

Hi Guys, Thanks for your replies. My supplier whose stocks of R/C equipment are very limited didn`t have a Planet T5 receiver, Hence my question of could I use another brand. After reading your replies I think I will stick to T5 parts and not try to substitute with another brand. It`s always difficult getting modelling supplies where I live. E-Bay is a better choice.
