I am currently overhauling / completing an old model of an RAF 43' RSL approx. one metre long by 8" beam. Build of this boat was obviously built some considerable time ago and it was suffering ply delamination in certain bulkheads which I fixed by pumping in glue and then clamping apart from this construction is sound following the Aerokits / Vic Smeed type of construction. I would like to fit a brushless motor and wondered if anyone out there can suggest a suitable combination. I would like to be able to use my stock of Lipo batteries for power.

      Thanks in anticipation,

      Norrie

Norrie. No idea about the brushless motor, however a Lipo is just a battery and will power brushed items ok.

            Hello Norrie

I've got the perfect combo for your boat!

Take a look at my website…Ellie…Vintage Broads Cruiser….You will see what I propose to fit in my 40" launch

It's from the Vintage Boat Company

VMBCo reckon that their 38mm brushless motor, 45A speed controller, a 7.2v battery (or 2S LiPo) and 40SR prop combination is just about the dog's bits for a model that size. Bob Abell will be fitting two of these motors to his Brutus (See thread). It has to be a good place to start, doesn't it?

I don't know how he did that, but the thread ended at Ashley's post when I hit Add Posting – honest!
Ah well – two brains are better than one (even when those brains are mine and Bob's)
