At a recent club meeting the topic came up of in which direction the propellors should rotate on a twin screw model. The majority opinion was that, when viewed from the stern, the port (left) propellor should turn anti-clockwise and the starboard clockwise. Is there a hard-and-fast practical or scientific rule about this or does it not really matter so long as the props contra-rotate?

Generally speaking, for fast boats the props rotate inwards (port prop = clockwise) while for manouvering models it's the opposite – viewed from the rear of the model.
