A quick google for "model boat stanchions" should find something suitable for the handrails.

The other stuff might need rebuilding using regular modelling techniques and materials. This is probably what happened on the original build – I think that the nearest that the 1:12 Arun ever came to a kit was a "semi" which was hull and superstructure mouldings with a drawing and the expectation that the builder would sort the rest out himself according to which particular "Arun" was intended.

                  Ray,

Apologies for answering in so untimely a manner (seven years too early, I know!), but I suspect that Malcolm may have missed that the latest posting in this indeed quite old thread was one of several identical requests from new (I would think) forum member rudi de schepper, who is looking for plans to build a 1:12 Arun class lifeboat, and had posted the same question in any thread that seemed to indicate its creator might have or know how to find such plans, and instead addressed himself to the original question …

True that I failed to notice the opening date.

Diverting off topic a little, as I often do – where did the phrases "I need" and "Can I get" come from, and why are they so widely acceptable as a substitute for "please may I have"? The barman at my local clearly has become fed up with the latter; when he was asked "Can I get a pint of….?" John replied "No, I'm afraid you can't – but I'm allowed on this side of the bar and if you ask me politely I might serve you with one". I'm sure I heard a faint ripple of applause!

I wonder if he ever got his bits. Probably not, just the one post from all those years ago. I'm fairly sure that Neil never got his million quid, either.

The proper answer to the "Can I do xxxxx" type question is, of course "It depends on how good you are", The substitutions go back to the end of actual universal education in the late '60's and the beginning of the end of language as a means of communication. Sometime back then, Dave Allen (revere his memory) commented on his difficulty understanding his own kids' feral mutterings. And that was before cellphones and TXTspk.
