I am new to this so I hope I get it right. I am building from scratch the Elco PT-Boat from the free plan which was in the October 1999 issue of Model Boats, does anyone know where I can purchase the reduction gears either 2:1 or 3:1 gear ratios, they have to suit a 600 type motor with a 3mm shaft Dia. I have purchased some from HOBBIES but these are not suitable for my needs. I hope someone out there can help me on this. Will be most gateful if there is.

        Try these guys:

        http://www.gliders.uk.com

They are Graupner distributors and both sets of gears appear on their website. You’ll have to check the sizes, but my Sentinel has two of the full gearboxes fitted onto 545 motors which have identical shaft diameters to the Speed 600.

Have a look here, they do complete gear sets for the motors you are using. No connection just a satisfied customer and they are great to talk to if you give them a ring.

HI out there, I would like to wish all you modellers out there a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS and ALL THE VERY BEST for the coming new year. Thank you for all the advice and prompt answers to my queries over the last few months.
Sorry I nearly started world war 111 with some of them, but I will be back in the new year with more of them to test your knowledge of electrics, once again THANKS.
