Had a play with a Go-Pro on Sunday. I stuck it on the front of my Dunkirk "Little Ship" to see what I could get.

Not very good against the light and obviously a bit boring going round in circles but interesting overall. Docking in a floating dock would be a lot more visually appealing.

It was only held on with Blu-Tac so I can transfer it to any model that can handle it so might have a go at something else next.

          Hi Richard

          Nice bit of video.

          More, more please !!!!

Our camera uses Go Pro with FPV so he drives it like he is on board .

I might stick it on my Corvette next, should give a reasonable representation of a bridge view.

Your video shows that you really have a nice location, but having a concrete wall to dock at, worries me.

Paint is not a good buffer medium, at Boston & Cleethorpes, we have rubber mats to dock against, whilst at HEMBC in Lincoln, we have a wooden edging to the lake, all of which are 'kinder' to your hull.

Is it possible, that you might convince your club committee to invest in some foam or rubber fenders, so that contact with the pond edge, might be kinder to the models?

Nice video Richard, I thought of investing in a small GoPro for the Fisher launch, but found that the cost/useage was not justifiable. I managed to squeeze my Contour 2 minicam into the wheelhouse though! First film was very boring as it features the shut-down of the R/C due to the winches overloading the BEC in the ESC. The Fisher drifted for about 40 minutes I think before I managed to wade out and get hold of it. I have a couple of videos on Y-T but they're too long and boring even for me to watch.

2nd video was also too long, but at least you could hear the motor and bow-thruster working and the winches winching/genoa being pulled from side to side etc. while sailing. Don't know if anyone else in the world has even seen them!

Short 'GoPro' clips would have been been much better.

Sorry to bore everyone with this useless piece of info…back to the sail hoisting job.

Great video Richard, you have a lovely lake to sail on.

Hi Kev, Agreed, but not so straightforward when we use a public park. They would have to be taken out of the shed and set up every Thursday Afternoon and Sunday morning and I suspect we would soon run out of volunteers to do that. We also only have a narrow path at the edge of the pond so they could well create a trip hazard or get kicked into the water! My own approach is good fenders and a gentle approach. This was the boat with the Go-Pro on:

George, always feel free to ramble away at anything you want. I actually got my Go-Pro second hand on Ebay, which is of course a potential lottery but I asked the right questions up front. I would not pay for a new one and, of course, I really wanted the small cube type rather than the much bigger and more popular versions. The picture is far from perfect but good enough for this sort of playing around.

And before anyone says anything I know the flag needs changing!  Although I could claim it was visiting when it became sequested!

We have always considered ourselves to be very lucky to have such a good pond Colin. We have a very good relationship with the council, who allow us to keep a 20" shipping container there, and there is a small cafe with suitable facilities. The water though is very easily accessible with a small wall on the other side of the path to keep the boats and the gear. Perfect set up. The only problem is wildlife in the form of a large population of geese, who leave a lot of feathers in the water. I don't think a single boat in this weeks Club 500 races avoided at least one round the prop!

I had another couple of goes at making a video clip this morning. This is the first one with the camera sat on the front of a HMCC Badger model, built from a Greenwich Maritime Models kit.

The Graupner Corvette could probably do with going a little slower to get a better view but it was actually quite windy and I had to keep it moving to maintain steerage!

And another one, this time taken from the Corvette mainly of the HMCC Badger.
