        i am building the above tug by David Metcalf and has double paddle wheels on rear .i have now received the plastic hull from Sarik and started on making paddle wheels.

        What rpm should the wheels turn as i an going to order 2off 546 motors with gear boxes.

          Jeff. Not a paddle expert but have been led to believe something around the 100-150rpm is the sort of range for a model paddler.

          i think any faster and they start to look silly. I am sure a suitable gearing and esc should give you this sort of max easily.

          No doubt there are paddle experts lining up to dispute this, but..

            I am using 150 rpm 12V motors in my paddlers – they seem to run and look right at just above 1/2 throttle.

              many thanks to you both for info.

              i will be using 540 motors with 50-1 gearbox from Component-shop
