I am the chairman of my local model boat club based in Orpington, Kent. The club has been approached by the Chairman of Dolphin Yard Sailing Barge Museum located at Sittingbourne, Kent. The museum has been donated a number of model sailing barges to use as exhibits but these require a degree of refurbishment. If anyone residing in that area is interested in volunteering then please send me a p.m. and I will provide contact details.

            Hi All,

Douglas tsb model has come back with me today for a little tlc, before going back for display. The museum has a lovely new oak framed 2 storey building, On the quayside is tsb Raybel ready for a rebuild in a floating barge, especially like the narrow gauge railway tracks on the quay from the Bowaters railway. More photos soon 😀

Ray – Well done, that was quick work. From the discussion that I had yesterday with the Chairman of the museum, there is also a proposal to have a boating pond facility for the younger generation to get some "hands on" rather than just viewing items in a showcase. I am not sure but it may allow the formation of another model boat club or at least generate some enthusiasm from the younger generation to build and sail a model boat.

                Hi All,

Well Douglas the Thames Sailing Barge is looking slightly happier after installing a carbon fibre rod in the topmast which had been broken off, not quite finished yet the brails which gather the mainsail up to the sprit have to be fitted and then it's back to the Dolphin Museum, It will be an excellent venue to sail when it's high tide in Milton Creek It would be something to have a model barge race whilst standing on the deck of Raybel the resident barge!!

                Regards Raydouglas tsb.jpg
