Hiya all, im seeking advice on selecting motor / esc for Pilot Boat.

I liberated a Pilot Boat that was headed for the local tip. During this lockdown I have eventually got the time to take a look at it and try and get it working.

The motor is defunct so looking for a replacement which will lead to the appropriate ESC, battery etc. The current speed controller fitted is home made so no idea what rating it is. It just has 12V written on it in pen.

I have attached pictures of the motor, it is 110mm in length (not including the shaft) and 65mm diameter.

The only markings on the motor is M6C-13 and 12V.

Any suggestions or advice greatly received.

Welcome to the forum. That's some sized motor! and a quality unit too by the looks of things. Not the average modelling motor.

          What size is the boat?

The motor looks like it originated in an era where things could be repaired. It might be amenable to a bit of TLC. What is the nature of the defunctness?

Once the size and shape of the boat is known, sensible guesses at replacing the motor can be made, but it might be time to consider going brushless.

              Many thanks for the replies,

The boat is Length = 1170mm, Width = 340mm, Motor shaft is 8mm.

I would like to replace all of the workings for brushless if possible. attached below is a few more pictures, as you can see the speed controller is home made and i have no idea as to its power rating etc.
