Larry. You need instructions?? A man of your calibre?? Unscrew the lid, rip out the motors and r/c box, fit propshaft and speed 280, battery holders for Lipo or 2/3A battery pack, fit small rudder assy and mini servo. Job done. It is that easy,

THEN . use the superstructure screw holes to fit brass rod to act as dowels to fit in the deck screw holes and build a small combing to fit inside superstructure.

Job done.

I have one, never use it. Mine has twin speed 280`s. 3mm shafts. Someone make me an offer!!

No, Have taken it apart and as going to the show in BP just wondered what motors others had used and shaft sizes, was thinking of putting 2 brushless in , I was sure there was a feature article on here about someone converting it as well as the magazine.

Actually thinking about it I wonder if I have that confused with the article on the Snowflower

I wouldn't have thought brushless motors would be justified. The Severn class have a top speed of 25 knots not 50!

Yes, No Idea where Snowflower came from !!, Thanks Colin, prop just put a couple of 380's or equiv in.

Hi All,

My grandson and I bought one of these at a model show a few years ago, it had 2 motors 400 size Huco's& twin props + mtronicsespeed controller & Tamco 2.4 meg gear for £50 we were always worried it would would capsize !!

We used it for spares in the end

I do remember seeing an article on the Severn conversion. It was only a page or two, and it came out a bit heavy if I remember. Mine sits at about the stuck-on waterline, perhaps a bit deeper but stability is good.
I used some 3mm shafts that I happen to have, 25mm three blade brass props and two speed 280`s. An aircraft ESC and a small servo, using a 7.2 2/3A Nimh Pack. Geos really well, others use one prop however there are tunnels underneath and I thought that twin props was easier to do. To go fast you really need trim tabs as well.

Not that I go very fast obviously.

Found it! the article by Dave Wilson was in a MB special 2006. Can scan if you want.

Dave used 380 motors as this is what he had laying about (as you do) but I used speed 280`s and 25mm props, which helps keep the weight down.

I also did work on the underside cutting off the strakes that form the tunnels in an effort to streamline things a bit, however for the `right` look you would want to keep them in place.

Noel. Yes it would be popular. They do look really good on the water, and this one goes quite well. Wont be down this Sunday as remembrance day but will try to bring it down (working) Sunday after.

All you would need is a small ESC and receiver.(and battery, obv, but you have some small lipos <2s ones&gt
