On a serious note, I was on holiday in Malta GC many years ago and hired a car for one of the weeks, and saw many
similar fishing boats there in small coves, inlets and little harbours, but took a ferry one day to Gozo, and actually met a guy who was building one in a small shed close to the harbour…..a 1 to 1 size, not a model…..and he let me watch for an hour or more….probably 3 if truthful……….and it was fascinating to watch him steam his planks, and then apply them one by one using treenails rather than nails or other metal fixtures, single handedly…..just amazed at his accuracy……and when I asked if he needed a hand holding them……….in perfect English he said, no its alright, you'll burn your hands on the planks. I touched one and it was steaming hot………..how on earth he held them for the time he did without asbestos gloves, I'll never know………..but it was absolutely [ excuse the pun] riveting to watch………such masters of their craft
