      Does anyone have a copy of the original article that went with the article and free plan that they could scan and e-mail to me please. I am building this for my Grandson and the article would answer some queries I have.

            Bruce,

            I have placed the magazine article (from March 1957 Model Maker magazine) in the thread, Vic Smeed's Model Boat designs. The article is quite basic as S.S. Hobo was a follow-on from the Painted Lady design. Painted Lady was a detailed build over three months, September, October and November 1956 and I have also posted these pages which will give a lot more information.

            The forum images are quite small, if you click on the image an enlarged version is shown, which can be further enlarged.

            Hope this is of help and I wish you every success with the build for your grandson.

              Hi Bruce

              My experience of building a similar sized steamer at 24"long is how small it ends up for fitting batteries and radio, Briafield is scale, If I were building her again I'd make her 32" for more room for the gear & batteries.
