      Hi Guys

I have a new string to my bow,

have built a rope walk machine,

I looked on youtube and found lots of different types to chose from.

My version has three pulley wheels with a elastic band over them and a geared down motor driving the hooks with power from a 6 volt battery.

So far I have made most of the ropes of the 30 plus I need for my China Tea Clipper Ariel build.I am using crochet cotton yarn 6 strands of NO 20 per rope each rope is approx 1 meter in length.

      Cheers

      Hutch.

          That's very neat, Hutch!

A miniature rope walk is also on my to-do list, although I've been putting it off.

Kudos to you for not only getting it done, but for doing so with success!

            Hi Mattias,

Thank you, since my post I have made 10 more one meter length of rope.

It take me about 5 min from tying off the first knot to finishing off .

The youtube clip I followed is http://igkt-solent.co.uk ,plus others to get the idea how to make my machine I used 5mm ply sheet for the frames and a 6ft x 4ins plank for the base.

            Hope this helps

            Regards

            Hutch.

                      BH Yes like that.

The Mrs does rope making with the cub scouts sometimes, using a toilet roll and hand drills with hooks on. It is amazing just how strong these ropes can be.

                        Hi Ashley Guys,

I have made 6 strand ropes using the three hooks and two strand ropes using only two hooks.they are very strong

To color the ropes {I have done one rope }used KIWI Liquid Kids Scuff this is a wax based water resistance shoe polish.

Has any one tried this, what do you think? is it better than RIT die.?

                        Cheers

                        Hutch.

Hi, Folks I had written a post but I scrolled back to check something and the post has vanished? I'll not repeat it yet as it may turn up. Windows 10 has eaten it I expect.
