This topic collects a few comments about the Streamlinia design.

What a good article on the Streamlinia replica. The use of depron was interesting.

As in the item, the model was featured in John Parker's Flotsam and Jetsam, March 2015. Prior to this Basil Harley wrote an item in Model Boats, May 1983. Found this alternative cabin design in F J Camm's book Model Boat Building (poor quality images from a reprint bought of ebay). The Davis steam turbine was discussed in a model boats forum thread.

Despite the lovely build by Ron Rees, I am not sure about the crewman on the model. The model is a replica of a model, which never had a figure on it.

Thanks to Tony Hadley for his kind words about my Streamlinia build. As mentioned in the article, the crewman was made as a response to a challenge from John Parker in Australia.

. He is a one off purpose made articulated figure wearing the engineers clothing of the time and uses ball joints from a model helicopter to move at the waist and arms and when installed on his seat appears to steer the boat, as indeed a real craft of this type would have been operated.

Maybe Tony will be slightly mollified to know that the crewman is not a permanent addition to the craft and the model is normally sailed without him. I appreciate any comments on my models and indeed challenges, so hopefully I can put my gauntlet back in the cupboard for a while.

        Regards………..Ron Rees.

Okay, Tony, I'll take the rap for the tiller man in the stern. But he is a very articulate(d) fellow as Ron points out, and I'm sure he would bend over backwards to please you.

          Yabbie 1 (John Parker).
