Following on Ray Woods' posting on Bob Abell's Silver Mist thread, and to show that I actually do use the place, I've just stepped out there with camera in hand and taken two pictures exactly as it is now (you can see the time on the clock).

Those 12" x 12" LED lights are wonderful at reproducing daylight. OK, so it's full on sunshine at the moment but I can work in an evening and be unaware that the sun has set! This workshop was built onto the back of the garage.workshop05.jpg

As we live in an appartement, I have been rather lucky to be able to rent (at a reasonable price) what used to be the kitchen part of the suit of rooms originally intended for the concierge. I don't think the building ever had one, but then again that's neither here nor there.

Although we also use it as a lumber room, I have space enough for a reasonable workshop …

                    verkstad1.jpg

… with some daylight, and a sink with hot and cold running water …

                    verkstad2.jpg

… and although I think it would be rather foolish (and cruel of course) to try to swing a cat in there…

                    verkstad3.jpg

… I'm still very happy to have a place where (within reason, given that it is in an appartment block) I can make as much dust, noise and pong as I want to without bothering anyone.

My 'Workshop' is in our converted loft. Nice and warm in winter and there is a toilet an wash basin.p1030943.jpgp1030944.jpg

There is a shed outside for the mucky stuff, and I have the same 'Boat Testing Facility' as Bob.

                                Hi Dave..
That has got to be the dogs dodars of a workshop.

A small boy is employed to brush up and clean out under the machines, no problem with the HSE as I call my workshop a working museum [I even got a heritage grant from the lottery]

                                  Bob

As you can see I have the very latest hitec equipment so I don't want to reveal to much.

That's only part of DMs workshop, during construction we caught sight of a heated swimming pool and bar

It had been in the planning stage (in my head) for about 50 years before a brick was laid! It doesn't have running water because the council thought it could then have been easily used as a granny flat/bed-sit. I told them neither of us has a granny but it didn't seem to make any difference. I have to run to the house for a p… cup of tea.

I get around all that by having the services detachable. There is a lot of kit on the market for caravans and the like which enables you to plug services in temporarily and then disconnect them. Or, alternatively, plug services in and not disconnect them. The key point is that if someone doesn't like them they can be removed before they start looking…

Regrettably none, but the big fridge in the kitchen is well stocked! Mr J Daniels' residence is in one of the wall cupboards…
