            Hello Paul

It looks very nice but its difficult to see the model properly due to the 'haze' are you using some kind of filter or does your lens need cleaning?

                    Hi Paul

Looks great I'm a Broads Cruiser fan, did you have drawings of the fullsize ? I've always hankered after the Porter & Haylett wooden fleet which were based at Wroxham and we had several holidays on in the 1970's, before they went over to the GRP boats My freelance design Margoletta was published some years back in Model Boats which I have seen some have been built over the years.

                    Regards Ray

Beautiful model. My oldest friend lived on and restored the slightly smaller version of this boat. Many a dawn chat in the wheelhouse with very strong coffee and a glass of rum.

                        Happy days.

Hi there Guys, Out to you All,

Huge thanks for your decent comments indeedy. Yes she has been a fun build and it's now onto completing her Building Instructions document for the kits. All good fun.

                          Bob: Cheers.

Ray: To answer your Q on the drawings. For all our models, we have been lucky enough to have been passed over the original drawings back in the early 80's, or what was left of them. From thereon we then set to task in locating those that were left dying in Broads Graveyards, and some further afield, where we managed to re-draft missing areas, though additionally, where needed we have had lines plans run up by the Pros. We have litterally 1000's of photos of each of the real things, and myself working as a shipwright carpenter in a hire fleet boatyard, also helped massively.

Ian: Spot on dear chap. Nice to know the model has that impact. Great.

Martin: We know of a few who have or are still to this day, using these old classics as Liveaboards. Lovely place to have a chin wagg in the old cockpit of days gone by. If only these craft could talk, the decades they have witnessed through thick and thin. Wonderful.

Kindest regards again to you All. Safe Boating.

I meant to say, yes indeed your Freelance design looked real good, reminds me in many ways of the Swiftway Class of Broads Cruiser, by Richardsons Yard here at Stalham.

                            Very nice. Good Work.

I seem to be missing something about a kit?? I have contacts who often ask what kit to build and this would be a beauty to recommend.

Can you fill me in on the details, Paul?

I was looking around for any guff on these boats this morning and came across an advert from these Norfolk Dumplings..Wayford Moorings.

It's not a joke, I assure you. I thought it was an attempt at writing in a Norfolk accent! I e-mailed them about it and got this back as an answer:-

"simple ans go poke your posh stupid ponsy attitude up yer areese

No joke. I had told them an American friend found it and alerted me to it asking if they could be serious!
I do hope Herbert Woods don't see the advert for one of their craft on the above's website.

                                  Afternoon Martin,

I have to be very careful in advertising a Business within this Forum, and so can only bring your attenttion to 'Broadland Classics', from there do please contact me through our email etc.. hope that helps, however hope you understand the need to respect the rules of this forum where we cannot actively talk of 'BC' in here.

On the second aspect 'Wayford Moorings'…. what can i say, however, the business you speak of are not linked into the Herbert Wood's family, yard or model boat manufacturing etc in anyway. They sell various types of real sized craft, in all states of repair, from around £80 – £80,000-00, essentially a broker yard located on the northern rivers at Wayford Bridge. They turn around a massive amount of boats. The ex Herbert Woods 60's cruiser you mention they have up for sale, has been bought by them from private hands, as are the majority of thier craft up for sale. But to clarify they are pretty large broker and provide a yard where people can work on thier own craft at whatever state of repair. They also have nothing in the Model Boat market. Do hope that helps dear chap, [from ex Ex Naval Litterate Gent – tee hee].

Cheers again Martin and look forward to your email through 'BC' by other means.

                                  Paul

Perhaps not the best place to mention it. I wasn't suggesting there was a link with Herbert Woods. Heaven forbid!

He claims to have left the company, in which case how would he have access to the mail I sent?

                                          Hey ho,

At long last, we have finally managed to strike deals with two raw material suppliers, coupled with buying in fair quantities of materials, which has had a brilliant cost saving effect all round. Naturally we have tonight put this saving to 2016/2017 new fixed forthcoming prices. We are more than delighted.

                                                  Hi All,

Following on through these very troubled times of the COVID19, I have now decided to press on again in my venture of constructing all things River Craft, following on from our trail period back in 2016/17 of 'Broadland Classics'.

Recently retired from the military, I can now hopefully afford to return to enjoy all things model boat building and post progress back in here. If anything to keep cheer, and a certain therapy in calm and company in sharing builds in these difficult times.

God bless you all out there, safe boating and enjoy your projects.
