Hello all,

I discovered by chance the following company last night and was astonished at their excellent range and prices for British made stuff.

I sent them an e-mail today, but it returned for reasons unknown, so I phoned them and the gent was very pleasant. Everything was in stock and the order gone off.

I'm sure I could have spent a great deal more with him and no doubt will eventually, but at his prices, only a fool would make his own turnbuckles, to name just one item. Similarly, if you can find an oil-filled compass head for 2 quid, good luck to you.

Modelling Timbers is indeed a company with which it is a pleasure to do business! For my part I find it particularly interesting that they have some stuff which you cannot really find anywhere else, such as their brass and bronze rigging thimbles.

And of course their very decent pricing olicy does not hurt either …

I have bought stuff from them on several occasions, and always been thoroughly pleased with the service, goods and prices.

I used this company many times when I was building the SS MEDEA they stock items that are impossible to find elseware , and the prices are very good

And amazingly the wee packet turned up from the IoM this morning. The parts I bought are superb. The Japanese traditional style shears, intended for trimming rigging are superb. Easily the sharpest edge tool I have seen since I worked at Toyota's design studio in Belgium, where they had Japanese chisels and planes and those amazing saws that cut on the pull stroke. And those shears are just £2 a pair!! Get some while you can if you're into anything with string on it…so to speak. He can't restock those.

Cordage, tiny wood screws and a compass head.

Wonderful service and goods.

Oh and the rigging shears are staggeringly sharp as my middle finger will already attest! My silly fault entirely<G>
