Hi, Trying to find articles about converting my kit to a floatable RC model. There's lots on the Internet about submerging the U-Boat but I just want to convert the kit to a floating RC model. Can anyone help point me in the right direction please?

There are various ways to do this, but I think you would find the easiest way is to install a Water Tight Compartment (WTC) inside the hull. These are usually made of perspex tubes with two sealed end hatches.

Look for data on making WTCs and sealing the output shafts. Here's an example, but there are many more **LINK**

Ignore data on incorporating a dive mechanism. The Revell boat would take quite a thin WTC. Then just put your radio and motors into the WTC, and add ballast or foam to get the sub to float at the right level…

A thread on this site, which may be of value – converting a Revell 1/72 Gato class to surface only r/c running.

Dave Abbott did a plastic Magic feature of a surface runner in MB March 2005 which didn't use a WTC.

Keith Bragg did a dynamic diving version in MB January 2006 again without a WTC
