Chaps. We could do with a list of brushless motors (complete details..manufacturer, Kv and so on) and ESc`s ..as used in your brushless equipped boats.

We need this as more and more people are fitting brushless but it all seems a bit poke and hope. Questions are forthcoming for which there are no definitive answers.

A list would have hull type, dims and weight and so on, the motor details, ESC details, battery voltage/type, prop type/size and an idea of the performance. This would enable us to build up a picture of what works and what doesnt.

I am a bit useless for this as the Ecranoplan A90 has an air prop, and the KM has a hull shape and weight not likely to be matched by anything anyone else is going to make!

BUT there must be loads of PT boats, any number of Sea commanders, tugs and what have you so fitted???

Also in June 2013 MB Pages 40 to 43, Ron Rees had a brushed v brushless article and there is a handy comparison chart on Page 43, but that is only a starting point. There is no substitute for practical experience!

Lubeck is grossly overpowered by the Turnigy 2822 102w motor which weighs a third of a conventional 380 5 pole motor and is ball-raced, all for £6.

A really good idea Ashley, I was looking at going with brushless motors in my 1:24 Perkasa but when seeking advice no one seemed to know the setup that would be best for my size of boat ,As i did not want to waste money on a setup that would not perform i decided to stick with the good old brushed setup. There seems to be a lot more people clued up with brushless motors on aircraft rather than boats.

Thanks for the link Colin , It makes some sence to me but as John says in the link there is plenty of data for model aircraft but boat are a new ball game , As Ashley says if some one with this knowledge had the time ( lots needed i think ) to compile a data table applicable to boats of all sizes and performance requirements it would be great.
