        img_0017.jpgWent down to my local model boat pool at New Brighton this morning and spotted this very unusual model submarine . It called Sky Diver and is based on the fictional submarine -jet fighter combination used in the 1970s series of UFO . it really does work and is water jet powered . Although still under construction the builder Ken Mc cloud is working on a system for launching the aircraft from the nose or should that be bow. It looks strange yet impressive surface running . In the 1970 series the jet fighter at the bow was launched from below the surface , now that would be something to behold .

          David, do you know if this was a scratch build or f/bglass hull? A f/glass hull was available for a while.

            img_0275.jpgHi Ashley As far as I am aware both submarine and fighter are made from GRP. Ken likes the unusual and has built both the Disney Nautilus and the USS Seaview from the 1960s TV series Voyage to the bottom of the Sea .

                David. Very impressive models. There was a "Stingray", working model. of a decent size, on E-bay some while ago and I was sorely tempted, but a) it was a bit big for our pond average depth, and b) I didnt make it !! it is on my list of things to do.

                The Seaview was available as an either a Moebius models or Polar lights kit and I believe 38 inches or so long, I saw it in Comet miniatures (who may have also made the Skydiver) and wondered about it at the time…would it r/c ok??

                  Hi Paul Ken has had his Stingray model down at the pond but I haven't seen it working. thanks for asking .

                  Hi Ashley Ken's Seaview is over 5ft long and comes complete with the flying sub but as yet it's not in any working condition. Since then he's built a large scale Russian Typhoon class and now the Skydiver. I would really like to see his Seaview underway as it looks so impressive .
