I have just purchased a new hull and am seeking advice as to the superstructure – I am struggling to decide what to build! Can anyone help me on this and possibly provide me with images of anything similar. The model is 47" long and has a 12.5" beam. I have uploaded images of it to help. Any advice greatly received.

          Chris,

I think you almost certainly have a hull for the customs launch Badger. You can buy the plans here: **LINK**

            Good Morning Colin

I am not sure that Chris's hull is the Badger as the Badger has a very pronounced bow and a more curved profile at the deck/hull intersection.

but I agree that the superstructure would be ideal.

              Paul,

The photo of Badger that you have posted shows a much more pronounced sheer to the bow than is indicated on the plan. Chris's photos seem closer to the plan illustration. The clincher would be to get hold of an plan view of Badger and see if the superstructure matches the deck cutoutson Chris's hull.

I have a feeling that Badger may have been published twice over the years and maybe the two sets of plans were different although only one now remains in the list.

                Good Morning Colin

I disagree as Chris's model lacks the curve along the length of the gunwales, the bow flair is different and the stern has more body.

You are very active this morning….stronger coffee? wink

                  Jet Lag!

I will see if I can track down the original Badger article. The builder of Chris's hull may not have got it quite right but the dimensions are pretty much spot on.

I have now found the original Badger article and, as Paul says, there are significant differences but there are also similarities so maybe somebody has adapted a Badger hull for something else. Puzzling.

I'd go with the one Colin has shown on the last post myself……..however when I first say it on ebay a week or so ago I thought it was the old No.1 Pilot boat but with modifications to the open shelter decks being closed in………….would make a nice pilot boat at that length.

Well thanks for all your advice chaps, I am very grateful! I think Paul is right by saying that the bow on the Badger is more pronounced that the hull I have. Glad to see you recognised that it was Ebay last week – I simply couldn't resist!

All said, I think I will probably go for a customs launch type superstructure as it looks romantic and would go well in the collection. Now, I'm registered with the site I may well be in touch with more queries in the future. Have bought the plans from the link so I will see how I get on. Do you guys have a link for any fittings that I may need? I am assuming that the model is about 1/15
