Well it just had to be the QE is underway ahead of time , well as a test tank model . It quotes the scale as 1:144? Impressive for sure .

          David,

Thanks for informing us about that link to MOD/QinetiQ website. At 1 metric tonne that's some scale model !! You would need lifting gear and a flat bed truck for pondside launches. Envious of the QinetiQ test tank facility – imagine that was available for model boats – there would be a queue from Portsmouth to London clamouring to get in !

Thanks for the link and for the previous photos, the QE carrier is going to be my outdoor summer project, I'm currently pushing to get a few other things out of the way before I start the drawings.

Paul. I trust that your model will be a bit lighter…

i could fancy a QE, in my normal style..I have spotted some die cast F35 planes for it but even if I cheat I think it might be a bit too big for the car! or pond, if it comes to it. Even squashed up, there is still the width to contend with..

As stated, what a test tank!! waves and all… fantastic. Oh for a few million….

Lighter and smaller but it still might end up being put on a trailer rather than squashing it into the Trooper

1/144 and 1 tonne, jesus lord makes my german destroyer also in 1/144 scales look tiny by comparison.

Started to play around with the QE idea yesterday and the ideal scale for commercially available model aircraft kits is 1:72 which would produce a model of just under 4m in length.

Whilst Jane is happy enough for me to draw up the plans she has forbidden me to build it until I am a lot better, but seeing as my condition is degenerative I don't think that I will ever get it built so if anyone fancies building a 13ft model of the QE I will have a complete set of full size plans and templates.
