Hi All ,I have just purchased a lifeboat (BREDE LIFEBOAT) which I have wanted to do for sone time .The Brede was the best Icould afford at present but cannot find much about the lifeboat .Any help with finding info would be appreciated The local coxain tells me that it was jet propelled ,if so I will have a serious problem attempting to build an authentic model.maybe a trip to Poole . will be required .while talking about Lifeboats has anyone heard on the new Shannon Lifeboatwinkmichael

I think the coxs'n might have been pulling your leg Mike…they were just a fill in betweeen the Rother class and the |Mersey for a faster carriage launched boat and were built on a standard 33 foot Lauchin hull……

EVERY expense was spared and they certainly didn't go to the expense of developing jet drive for them….stand easy and don't worry…they were purely and simply twin screw jobs.

as to thwe shannon class…….well, that's another story altogether, with many highs and lows to the development through the past few years, and big bucks spent before arriving at the Shannon.
