      Boaters.

I had my HMS Jersey, Island class OPV (39 inches long, Kingston mouldings hull) out yesterday, as rescu boat for the latest project.

After having varios 540`s in it over the years, i had recently installed a Model Motors direct 555 electric can motor.

This runs using a 12v gel cell, and a 40mm brass prop. The motor is rated for 24v if required.

To be honest the boat was a bit pedestrian, and so i thought I would try a few props from my spares box. The largest i had available was an X50 plastic prop.

Imagine my suprise, that when i fitted it, the performance was the best from various others tried..and so i put my ammeter on the battery, and to my astonishment it was only pulling 2 1/2 to 3 amps..and over a 10 minute thrash the motor was barely warm.

Simply astonishing. Boat looks a bit odd out the water, but performs quite adequately now..
