I have recently aquired a Billings Samson tug which is sound but has a layer of grime. Could someone advise on the best way to clean it.

Soft brush, soapy water, gets my vote. Sponge may be ok on the hull, unless there are gaping cracks in it. Fibreglass or plank construction ???

Why clean it? Some people spend hours mixing pots of paint, watering them down, adding iron filings, soaking nails in water and dry brushing to get that grimy weathered effect which often doesnt actually work!! It may actually look better grimy and give character. It might look worse cleaned. Just a thought.

Mike, good point ! a bit of patina can certainly add to a model.
