i am building a Archer Tug double the size of the plans and would like to know which would be best a 3 or 4 Blade propellor. Also shaft size could someone advise me thanks Brian NZ

4 blades on a tug matey…….especially built for torque and low revving grunt.

you will find that all steam tugs of that era had high “steam pitch” on the blades of the prop to give high power at low revolutions of the engines when towing

, ……

……..and with a 5mm shaft……length dependant on the size of hull and where you want your motor to sit in the hull.

I always try to maintain a scale appearance where possible so do you know anything about the original propeller?

As Neil says four bladed is best and I would expect the original to be a four bladed one but it would be nice to see if you can get the model prop as close as possible to the original.
