about 30 years ago i made a balsa police launch for my son from a model boats free plan.

unfortunatly i lost the plan.I recently decided i would like to build one again but cannot get a copy.i have rung my model shop but to no avail.

Not all the free plans made it into the PlansService range and I can’t find a classic UK type police launch listed although there are plenty of service launches.

Many of us do have old issues of the magazine (mine go back to 1960) so if you were able to give a better indication of when it might have been – i.e. how old your son was at the time might suggest the year – somebody might be able to track it down for you.

There was a free police launch Plan in the July 1977 Issue called “Bobby”

Quite a nice easy little build , If it was this one I also built this as My First R/c Model Boat and Still have it !!

Thanks for the replies. I have now sourced the plans for “Bobby” from a member of my local club and look forward to sourcing the materials and starting a new build .

Would anyone happen to have any pics of “Bobby” police launch, I have almost finished building Bobby but have not seen any pics of her and would like to see a pic of the finished boat

Album is called Bobby ..The ones which look a mess is mine dating back to 1978-1980 and has gone through many rebuilds but is the original Hull , the latest is my effort to make it look displayable..The 2 small ones are i Think 75% versions I took photos of at the Woodvale Rally and they are really superb. along with a full size version by the same Builder.The One with a lifeboat on is a picture Originally on this site on an article which after the site was revamped disapeared.

No problems , although a very basic build its quite a nice boat , my boat is the first 5 pictures , the orange one is one from the woodvale but I agree it looks fine. saying that the varnish I used which was just clear I admit does give it a bit of an orange glow.

Mine once had a os engine attached to the back with a 6inch plane prop and side hulls for stability .. But thats another story..
