We are always advised to purchase insurance cover and it is indeed a mandatory requirement for most sailing events. I am about to start looking round for the best deal.

Which company provides the best and most reasonable cover for the lone modeller who likes to sail occasionally at some of the events thoughout the year?

Interesting question…will be enlightened to see what the forumers advise, being in a similar situation myself ..actually, I have not attended any shows so far yet (with my own boats) BUT that has something to do with no insurance!.

The Model Power Boat Association provide insurance. Individuals may join as Countrywide members and receive the same benefits as those who join through affiliated clubs, Cost is £20 pa for adults. Civil Liability insurance cover is £10 million – far in excess of what is generally offered elsewhere and more than acceptable to any event organiser I should imagine. There is no cover for damage to one’s own property of course,

in addition, the member may enter any of the MPBA organised events, be it scale, hydro, power, fast electric, straight running etc. and receive 4 newsletters pa + a yearbook. The newsletter has improved enormously in the last year or so. The MPBA have a website with contact details.
