Hello people, im a long time magazine reader but new on here.

My question is regarding http://www.fleetscale.co.uk, basically i couldnt get on the website for 2 days.

I’m very intrested in buying the HMS HOOD 1/128th that costs £689.24.

i would just like some info as to why the website was down, are they having problems, site maintaince etc?

And also is this kit worth the large sum of money?

i have heard good things about Fleetscale but the website downtime has made me wonder if all is well.

sorry if this is in the wrong section.

      many thanks

To answer your question on two parts: as for downtime, i suppose it is partly to do with the service provider…and if that service provider is anything like TalkTalk….they could be down more times than they are online…talktalk being crap providers [ speaking from bitter experience]
with respect to the price io their ( Fleetscale or any other provodors] product:….

put it into perspectibve…how much does a pint of beer, a shot of whiskey or a glass of wine cost these days..and how long does THAT pleasure last, compared to building a model.
Paying £700 for a semi kit has to be laid out into the many hours of pleasure that it itself can give to a modeller……………..and then the cost doesnt seam too much………….perhaps a thousand hours building equates to 60p per hour where as a scotch at £3.00 a shot lasts just 15 minutes if you are lucky ( so that is £12.00 per hour for your enjoyment).

By that reckoning, a model at 60p per hour is mighty good value indeed, and you have something to show for it at the end of the day, not just a cricked neck looking down at the urinal basin, lol

Two days downtime for a small business site is not unusual.

Google and Firefox is flagging a lot of websites as “attack sites” due to banner adverts.Don’t worry if you take the usual precautions or keep your system and antivirus updated.

              Hi Guys from Fleetscale.

As the creator and administrator of the Fleetscale website I visit it every day and I have NEVER known the site to be down. Also we have hundreds of hits a day and I would have known about it by now.

Sometimes your own provider – such as Talk Talk – can be responsible for these problems. The internet is a complicated set up but a local DNS server – the one that looks for the site name could be down – or a specific route could be down. That can be responsible for selective malfunction i.e. you can get most sites but not others.

I can assure you that if the Fleetscale site was down for 2 days I woyuld have been tearing my hair out – and I have a full head of hair.
