Had to take a break from my current major project while waiting on more materials so mid clear out of the shed I came across two styrene meat trays and literally a shed load of balsa scraps plus a micro brushless aero motor so a little brain scratching and now I’m looking forward to a trip to the pond even if its overgrown with weeds

Ah yes, but were they steak trays or mince trays??   I used to make boats out of date boxes, ideal shape, bit like a narrow boat. Ashley (stares off into distance)

Many years ago I made an airboat out of a paper towel dispenser, the curved ends made a great hull shape and it went very well powered by a 3cc glow engine.

Don’t know how to rest Bob  our neighbor reckons I’m hyper active must be all the red meat! they most certainly where steaks Ashley. Not to much of the Taunton Bridgewater canal left that’s navigable other than by air boat or hovercraft Paul.

Any way snuck out to the local pond this morning and with a little trimming this one flew round the pond certainly saw the ducks of. very quick and highly manoeuvrable no need for a reverse she turns in her own length even at speed flies over the Lilly pads like there not there even remains stable when she bounces over waves definitely one that will live in the car for those impromptu moments when the opportunity presents its self

well Len asked for more photo’s so here they are! unfortunately non on the water we were all having to much fun and the camera stayed forgotton in its bag, However it performed well. vital stats are 484gr length 450mm beam 230mm wetted length 380mm motor is a 1550 kv (revs/volts) 6.5amp/72w brushless turning a 5″x3″ prop and powered by a 3s1p (11.1v) 1300mah LiPo bty  not sure about her speed but its reasonable prob about (a fast jog) bty life appears to be in the 20min region

Oh and the lewis gun traverses from the tx
now some detail shots 1st the rx/bty bay and the machine gun servo without the gun

this is obviously the motor pylon and huge rudder

and finally the cockpit and occupants
