Took advantage of a pleasant evening tonight and had the first sailing of JDAW with the help of my No1……Duckie

She sailed straight off the drawing board, as they say, no trimming required!…….Just lucky?

Took lots of pictures but the background of parked cars etc spoilt most of the shots

      More action

      shots to follow…………………Bob

Superb Bob, congratulations! She really does capture the essence of the original ship.

Fabulous looking ship Bob. You must have been chuffed at having no hitches on the first voyage. There is an impressive amount of water turbulence from the wash.

Those pics look just the thing for a photo competition I am in the process of putting together for the website. The basic idea is to give prizes for the photos of your models which look closest to the original vessel and make it hard to decide whether it is a model or not. I have to draft the rules and run it all past the powers that be so it may take a week or so to launch. But you can start snapping in the meantime….

But I notice that there is a rivet missing on the stern…………….

It was a wonderful maiden voyage Bob and a pleasure to be there as No1 and help with the launch of this build on Saturday night ,the public was a bit scarce then but was there on Sunday and were very impressed with the size and movement of the paddles.
I was lucky enough to sail her whilst Bob was doing his Litchfield bit and was like a dog with two tails
My wife and I did provide the Bubbly for the launch though its not quite clear on the pictures Bob.

                                          Hi chaps

JDAW has been languishing away in the garage for the last two years and is looking a bit worse for wear.

Time for some restoration work….Asap……and hope it awakens my sleeping enthusiasm for modelling

Giving the matter some more thought……..

JDAW took part in the D-Day landings and could have recieved some interesting battle damage in the process?

This could be be the very excuse for the tatty appearance and perhaps a few bullet holes here, there and everywhere……… would add a bit of interest?

                                            Hmmmmm?……..I wonder?……Got nowt to lose!

BOB. I suggest that bullet holes in this scale would be very, very small.

Bomb damage over most of the top would be my vote…

A fire, and smoke issuing from the bowels of the ship would add realism .. did it sink at all….? even a little bit

                                                Hello Ashley

I knew the latest post would catch your eye!

You are probably right about MG bullets….but 40 mm cannon and 88 mm flak would certainly show up!

There’s no info regarding actual D-Day action and damage, so the World’s my Oyster!

I’ve just got to control myself

The ship was scrapped in 1967…….how sad?

                                                      Hello Michael Palk'

I can only suggest that you mention your requirement on this thread, you never know what will turn up!

Or select a plan that is similar and scratch build your model from photographs, there are plenty of pictures available
