I am sure there are plenty of modellers out here know very well the rule of six P’s, it goes :-
P roper
P lanning
P revents
P retty
P oor
Performance
There are lots of examples that can prove this but the one that springs to my mind is the old carpenter’smaxim…..Measure Twice but …..Cut Once….. It is all too easy to rush into a job and get a measurement wrong and wreck a valuable piece of timber, and bitter experience is that neither of the bits will be any use so in the bin it goes,
What I am saying is when you set up your model workshop, buy the best tools you can afford, I even bought a drawing board so I can put my technical drawing skills to good use producing a set of scale working drawings to use while building the modelyou know how glue drips down and sticks the model to the drawing. Another thing I do is to put my drawings into my computer via my scanner, and if I print it out at 100 %, the printed page is exactly to scale, but the message is take time to get everything you do absolutely right then you will have a model to be proud of…Mike Davidson
