Whilst at the club yesterday I spotted a fibreglass hull on the bench that was foc to anyone that wanted to build a boat with it. So I couldn’t resist and now it is at home with me firstly wondering why did I do it and secondly thinking now how or what do I do with it……. I am ok sawing/ cutting a bit of balsa and fibreglassing a deck in place, I have skills with Diy tools etc, BUT, what motor/prop shaft/prop/ electrics should I put on it and anything I need to watch out for, heat? Where in the boat should the motor fit? Middle towards the back? Aft?
I have built several electric planes up to 6s so some knowledge of motors lipos esc etc.but what sizes do I need for a 90 cm fibreglass hull? I am not looking to break the land speed record just don’t want to be embarrassed by a boat that looks like a speed boat moving like a canal barge, so something in between would be good.
i was thinking I could just pull a motor esc combo out of one of my planes and just put it in the boat, with a prop and propshaft combo from prestwich models, would that work?
I will go and talk to the guys but find I get good advice here so I thought I would try you guys first.
