Hi all, at the risk of creating a conglomeration of everything under the sun I am looking for advice on kitting out my J P Woods tug with motive power, i.e. motor prop, battery.

I do have tx and rx suitable for the tug but just want to test the water as they say on what range i should be looking at. be it geared motor, nimh or sla or lipo (which I have) and a prop so c'mon guys and gals wot you got smiley

      Roger

For those of us not familiar with a J P Woods tug, how big is it?

Tiny ones benefit from LiPo, big ones need weight so SLA are appropriate, between, NiMH are really good as while they supply weight, they don't do so excessively and offer more flexibility in siting inside the boat as well as being easy care.

Hi. Malcolm, The James P. Woods is 36" long 91/2" beam with around 3" below the waterline, looking at other similar

sized tugs I recon it's going to have at least 20lbs of ballast, maybe a bit more.

              Regards.

              Eddie

                    Hi Roger

My fishing boat weight is 16 pounds and on a 2S Lipo 5000mah battery running a 540 rock crawling 60 Turn motor direct drive to a 3 blade 60mm brass prop.

No water cooling and the motor runs fine.

I have limit the end stop(65% each way) on the transmitter because to boat was far over scale speed.

Testing out a 50mm 5 blade brass prop on the boat tomorrow !!!

                    Harry Smith
