        Hello all,

        Noobie here from the states. I found this site when looking for an active modeler's site to exchange helpful insight to this hobby. I received this Dumas Life boat a couple years ago and jumped right into the build, I'm at the point of paint and sealing and just read a bit about the use of finishing and sealing the hull. Nice tips. Will like to add more details along the lines of lighting and power.

        I've built and flown model planes when "U" control was the accepted process…..long time ago.

        Thanks in advance for any replies to my seemingly redundant questions

          Hi Ken and welcome to the forum, the font of all knowledge (in Blighty, at least).

          When you have a moment it would be nice to post a few pictures of your build, see the FAQ bit on the home page.

          There is not much that is right or wrong about hull finishing. In most cases just a coat of undercoat/topcoat paint is more than sufficient, but everyone has their own methods.

          Good luck with sorting out the advice! It is worth bearing in mind that most boats only spend a few hours in the water over a one year period…
