Peter. Not sure I have ever seen one. Generally I use a cable tie to loosely restrain the ESC to a post or something. I have a few models with a wider aluminium bracket and tied the esc slightly tighter to it to get some heat transference to the bracket. It is important to ensure the esc is not enclosed tightly , it needs a bit of air space.

Hi Peter, if you mounted the ESC on an alloy plate then to the hull you will get some cooling to the ESC and a firm mount to the hull

I use Velco for nearly all the electronics in my boats. Makes it easy to move or take them out again, never had a problem with anything coming loose. One boat even uses Velco for a lead acid battery and its never moved in use.

Quite cheap at Wilkos.

Mtronics ESc`s used to have (on the finned side) a central circular tunnel (if that's the right word) and this was handy to put over a post (nail, end cut off) sadly they have deleted this and the finning is that same all over.

Mounting brackets – what do you mount the bracket to?

If something isn't available then there's always the option of making one. I've used aluminium right-angle extrusion for making servo mounts and brackets for mounting on/off switches. A Junior hacksaw, a drill with fine bits and a medium-fine file are all the tools you need. Degrease the finished job with white spirit or meths and that self-adhesive Velcro will stick to it like brown-stuff to bedclothes. 1/8" birch ply is also a very useful material for such items if you glue it up with epoxy and seal it against water.

You get a double dose of satisfaction in that it will fit the job exactly and you designed and made it yourself. We used to call such activities "model-making" when I was a kid.
