My ESCs usually just sit in an open box to stop them wandering around. Or a dab of Blu-Tak. Or if its a model with a bit of go, a Velcro pad or double sided tape. If I felt the need to heat sink an ESC, I would think that I should have got a bigger ESC.
Some early ESCs had lugs to help screw them to a wood panel (Electronize 43xx), but more often the lugs were used to be gripped by rubber bands or as an aid to a slide-in mount. Actually screwing the things down is over engineering that leads to making life difficult later.
