Not a lot of info there, is it wood? Fibreglass? Plastic? Does the whole hull need sealing / painting? Or do you have splits? Or water coming in somewhere? What type of boat is it?

I'm sure we can help when we understand the issues.

It is a plywood hull. There does not appear to be any splits and I feel the whole hull will need sealing. Sorry about the lack of detail !

              Is it already painted?

                Hi Eric

Take a look at the Features page, under tips tricks etc. Look for Finishing and Sealing a Wooden Hull

Oops, copy paste gone mad. Anyway, I found this really helpful and full of good tips. Including the rubbing down and painting process too.

Here is the link – Colin

The colour is black; I intend to use Nitromors to remove it ; unless I hear different !!     Have made a note of the link, Andy. Eric.

                    A common technique is to give a hull a resin coat – Z-Poxy is a well-regarded brand…

I found some stuff in B&Q called "Diall", an own brand paint remover. Kinder to plastic than Nitromors (at least, the Nitromors that I remember). While the hull is ply, there might always be some plastic bits lurking under the paint.
