1:50, while a nice metric scale, is not that common. 1:48, on the other hand, is popular with diorama modelers. I doubt that there will be any specific "tug" figures, but somewhere there might well be figures suitable for conversion. 1:48 is a bit bigger, but maybe tug crews need to be big lads, we are all 1:1 scale, but come in various sizes.

            Thanks Malcolm

That explains why my online search was fruitless. The kit I'm building is 1:50 so I simply assumed………!

1:48 scale is 'O' scale for model railways. There must be loads of 'O' scale model workers and passengers around…

This lot https://www.hobbylinc.com/bachmann-mechanics-o-scale-model-railroad-figure-33163 might look convincing as Tug crew. Only minor caveat is that the figures might be 1:43 rather than 1:48, so might be pushing the size a bit. A 6 footer would become 6 foot 9. Probably nothing that a bit of judicious leg shortening couldn't cure. Usually figures of a slightly smaller scale are preferable, being easier to fit, but needs must.

Finding a UK supplier might be difficult.

                  hello Aidan

I am making a 1:48 scale boat just now and have bought a load of male and female figures (yes I know it is a tug, but times are a-changin&#39 from a source on Amazon for about a fiver. There were about 50 figures and a lot of the male figures will be OK for the cargo boat I am building.

Just type in O scale figures on Amazon search and scroll down. You should find them.

                  Good luck

                  Ian

If you look on my album at my newly finished calmac ferry built at 1;46 scale there are are figures bought from ebay at 1;48, 1;50 and the small figures acting as children are modified 1;72 [or what ever figures at smaller scale] all seem to fit in well together as at that scale the odd millimetre scale difference isn't a life shattering difference. the vehicles are also 1;43 – 1;50 scale.

                        Greetings all

I need a 150mm tall figure as a driver for my new Queen cabin cruiser, I have searched websites but so far have been unlucky, any clues as to a website would be welcome, I am assuming that a 150mm figure would be 1/12 scale of 1.8m tall man.

                        Yours in anticipation

                        Bryan

Bryan – 1/12 scale figures (dolls) are readily available as the bigger dolls houses are made to that size. Just put "1/12 scale dolls" into an internet search and you'll probably find something suitable.

                            Thank you Keith

I never thought that dolls houses were that big, I shall search tomorrow.
