Edward Bridges was actually the 3rd Arun lifeboat to be built and made of cold moulded diagonal planked 3 layers of timber rather than the grp that later boats were built…..she was also 54' in length so unless you have the measurement wrong, it will have been scratch built at a scale NOT to 1:12..she had the rounded transom and was one of only 5 54foot boats to be built

hope this helps. she was stationed at Torbay, and is now on permenant display at the Chatham lifeboat display

there were some longer "ARUN".type hulls builtbut they went to foreign lifeboat services

              Hi Daniel,

The original boat is now part of the Historic Lifeboat Collection at Chatham Dockyard and restored to her original appearance. See here.

If you are serious about restoring the model then it would be worth making a visit as you could get all the photos you want.

Otherwise, try contacting the museum and see if they can help you with photos.

              Colin

Hi Daniel….do you mean the A bracket lifts to the aft of the cabin superstructure?. They were tied up and used a twin block for lifting..used mainly for extracting dead weights ( unconcious persons especially) from the water using a strop.

as for the little Rib…….it's actually smaller than a "D" type……….it's a "Y" type boat and you can get hold of one of those in kit form from Speedline models in 1:12 scale..see here.

                  enjoy the build.

                  neil.
